The Company

This established Irish civil engineering contractor has a strong track record delivering major infrastructure projects across Ireland, with particular experience in roads, bridges, earthworks, drainage and public infrastructure.

They have a strong direct labour capability and experienced engineering teams, giving them good control over programme, quality and site delivery. They are currently delivering a significant road infrastructure scheme in Co Kerry and are looking for an experienced Site Agent.


The Role: Site Agent

As Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of works on a major road project in the Co Kerry area.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will coordinate engineers, foremen, direct labour and subcontractors while keeping a close eye on programme, quality, safety and cost. This is a hands-on Site Agent role suited to someone with strong roads and civil engineering experience who is comfortable managing works in a live infrastructure environment.


Must Have Requirements
  • Must have proven experience as a Site Agent, Senior Engineer or similar position on civil engineering projects in Ireland
  • Strong roads, highways or heavy civil engineering experience is required
  • Must have a relevant Civil Engineering or Construction Management qualification
  • Proven experience managing site teams, subcontractors, plant and programme deliver

Preferred Experience
  • National road or major road improvement experience preferred
  • Experience with earthworks, drainage, utilities, pavement works and traffic management beneficial
  • Previous experience working with direct labour teams would be an advantage

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day site operations and ensure works are delivered in line with the construction programme
  • Coordinate Site Engineers, Foremen, direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials
  • Drive health and safety standards across all site activities and ensure works are properly planned before commencement
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays or construction issues early
  • Oversee roadworks, earthworks, drainage, utilities and associated civil engineering packages
  • Work closely with the engineering team on setting out, levels, drawings, specifications and technical queries
  • Maintain strong quality control and ensure completed works meet project specifications
  • Coordinate traffic management and site logistics where works interface with existing roads and public areas
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and resource information
  • Liaise with the Project Manager, commercial team, design team and client representatives
  • Monitor labour, plant and material requirements to ensure resources are being used efficiently
  • Support cost control by tracking productivity, variations and site resources throughout the works

About You

You will come from a strong civil engineering background with previous experience delivering road or infrastructure projects in Ireland.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of a substantial section of works and coordinating engineers, foremen, subcontractors and direct labour. Strong knowledge of road construction, drainage, earthworks, traffic management and general civils will be important.

You will need to be organised, commercially aware and capable of keeping works moving to programme while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
